Is Anyone Connecting the Missing Dots?

Over the past few weeks, if you follow national and international Magic news, you may have noticed a smattering of reports about missing Magics, even Magics found dead in their homes.

And you may have ignored these reports.

After all, they didn’t happen to you or your loved ones, so what’s to make you sit up and take notice?

I admit, I would probably be the same if I weren’t in the news business. If I didn’t have a background in investigative journalism.

But I am and I do. These reports, the increasing frequency of them, leaves me concerned. And sometimes I feel I’m the only one who is. HQ hasn’t sent up any type of alert, and neither are the police warning the public to be on their guard.

But perhaps they should be. Perhaps they need to connect the dots between these cases. Because witches and wizards are disappearing from their communities at a rate we haven’t seen since the early days of the Mauvais.

And we have seen this pattern before. Not with the Mauvais, of course, but with another, far more sinister group.

Those of you who know your history will recall a string of missing Magics when the vampires thought they could take over our communities. Personally, I believe we never should have allowed them to integrate with us. Which, for the most part, they haven’t.

So ask yourselves, why do they stay in their own enclaves? Why don’t they mix with us? Perhaps it’s because they need privacy to plot against us once more?

Or are we to think what’s happening is completely innocent? Magics simply in need of a break and escaping for a time. Perhaps all these missing practitioners are sneaking off on a cruise together. I know damn well that the Herald’s readers aren’t so gullible. You are smart. I am smart. And we must connect the dots if the authorities won’t.

Here is my promise to you, dear reader: I will dig further into what might link all these disappearances together. I will uncover the truth.
